I started using essential oils for a year, but I have quickly fallen in love with them. Mixing them makes me feel like a chemist. It’s fun! Most of my essential oils are from Woolzies, with a few from Young Living and Saje.

As a beginner, I only have a small collection because I didn’t want to spend too much money on essential oils. I only keep some of the most popular ones in my basket, and on some rare occasions (when they go on sale!), I might buy a special scent. I do find they do most of the work. These are the ones I keep handy:
- Lavender
- Lemon
- Peppermint
- Eucalyptus
- Tea tree
The recipes below are mostly a mixture of these five oils. They are a combination of me researching what oil is beneficial for what and me playing around until I find a blend I like. Since these recipes only require you to own a handful of options, don’t worry if you only have limited selections or don’t want to invest a lot of money in them!
1. Morning Joy Recipe Blend
I use this blend in the morning, especially when I wake up with brain fog. The smell of the Morning Joy is refreshing and gets me feeling positive for the day.
- 2 drops of lemon
- 3 drops of peppermint
- 2 drops of eucalyptus
2. Mental Clarity Recipe Blend
My terrible sleep cycle lately has caused me to have a hard time focusing. I use Mental Clarity to help me concentrate when working from home and studying for school at night.
- 3 drops of peppermint
- 2 drops of rosemary
- 1 drop of eucalyptus
3. Muscle Tension Relief Recipe Blend
I am a young soul in an old body. I have muscle tensions like neck soreness, migraines, back pain all over me. It’s mostly rooted in work stress, bad posture, and dance. (I dance 2-3 times a week) This blend is meant to relax and help soothe my muscle.
- 3 drops of lavender
- 2 drops of peppermint
- 2 drops of tea tree
4. Evening Calm Recipe Blend
I usually use this after dinner when I need to start winding down. The Evening Calm relaxes me, and ease me into my night routine.
- 3 drops of lavender
- 2 drops of eucalyptus
- 2 drops of cedarwood
- (sometimes I add a drop of cinnamon if I’m feeling fancy)
Final words
These are the blends I have been using a lot. I still do a lot of different blending to see if I’ll discover new recipes I enjoy. I’ll do a part 2 when I have new ones to share.
I’d love to know what your favourite brand and essential oils are. I am a beginner, so I’m still learning about the world of oils. Also, if you have any blend suggestions, please comment below!

I’m trying to get into essential oils, so I am very much a beginner. I have a lot of muscle tension from stress- do you find that blend to help you? š

The blend works quite well for me! Lavender relaxes my mind and body, while Peppermint’s menthol effect helps alleviate tension. As for Tea Tree, there’s a review article from Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine that suggests it could relieve muscle inflammation.
But do keep in mind, if your pain is very intense, then I find the essential oil alone won’t do much, because the root problem will still need to be solved through proper treatments like massage or stretching.

These sound really lovely! I recently bought some lavender essential oil but I may expand my collection so that I can try these. Also, the basket you keep them in is so cute, did you make it?

Thanks a lot for the recipes! I usually don’t blend my essential oils, but your ideas really made me want to try, and I have pretty much the same ones as you! š The only time I did it was in the winter where I blended a bit of orange and cinnamon essential oils, and my room was filled with a wonderful christmassy scent!
