My COVID-19 Lockdown Routine: Weekday Edition

Toronto has been in lockdown mode for more than 2 months now. I haven’t seen anyone in person ever since, my boyfriend and coworkers included. I was lucky enough to have a job that allows working from home, but adjusting to it at first was definitely interesting. Now I’m getting into the groove of it and I’m loving how my weekday routine has become!

9:30 AM – Wake up

The first thing I do when I wake up is play my morning playlist on Spotify while getting some H20 in my body. (Here’s my playlist if you need ideas!) After I’m hydrated, I do a quick 5 minute stretch in bed to release all the muscle tensions I get from my terrible sleeping postures. And then I make my bed.

9:45 AM – Shower & get ready

Yes, I’m part of the morning shower camp. It wakes me up and makes me feel energized. After I shower, I set up essential oil in my diffuser and do my morning skincare routine. When I’m all done, I change into my ‘work from home’ outfit and get ready for work. (Here’s a list of tips & tricks I do during the morning to feel more energized for the day!)

10:00 AM to 4:45 PM- Work, lunch, and work

I first write a to-do list, then I pull out my work laptop and get working.

I am currently working full-time as a Digital Advertising Manager at a personal finance company. I manage all things advertising related, but I also help out with their email marketing and SEO. There has been small layoffs in my company, and thankfully I wasn’t on the hit list.

5:00 PM – Shut down work laptop

This one is so important, it needs its own heading. I not only shut it down, but I put it away from my sight.

It’s so easy to blur your work time with personal’s when you’re working from home, especially with your work laptop is staring at you. I’ve fallen into this trap before. You start to work past regular hours, you couldn’t take your mind off of work issues, and you start to develop stress in your personal space, where it’s meant for relaxing. If you lose grip on your work-life balance, you can get burnt out quickly.

5:15 PM – Workout or Skillshare

This is the time where I work on myself. From now till dinner, I rotate between either doing a workout and stretch session, or doing an online Skillshare class.

When it’s a workout kinda day, I find a 20 to 30 min Youtube video to follow along, and end my session with a nice stretch. If it’s a personal growth kinda day, then I take a Skillshare class online. This is a time I’ve committed to daily to better myself, whether if it’s my health or skills.

6:30 PM – Dinner time with the fam

My family and I eat dinner together at the dining table most nights, with some rare occasions for TV dinner when we order pizza and wings.

7:00 PM – Personal “whatever I want” time

Well technically it’s not whatever I want. If I have lectures to read or exams to prep, then this time will be dedicated for studying. But when I’m good for school, then the world is my oyster (to an extend).

Depending on how I feel that day, I do everything from working on a 1000-pc puzzle, crocheting cozy stuff for my room, and random doodling, to watching The Voice’s and The Mask’s Singer finale with my parents.

10:00 PM – Netflix & tea time

This is my favourite time of the day for obvious reasons. Every night at 10PM, my boyfriend and I watch 1 to 2 episodes of a Netflix show together (virtually). But before that, I make myself a ‘night time’ tea to ease myself into a calming state. For me this is a great way leading up to the end of the day, because a hardworking girl deserves some good Netflix and tea. I have binged through several shows already during the lockdown. Here are the best Netflix shows I’ve watched the last 2 months and my thoughts on them!

12:00 AM – Wind down for the night

Other than the usual brushing my teeth and changing into my sleeping pjs, I do my nighttime skincare now. It relaxes my mind and my face (LOL). It’s quite calming to go to bed feeling pampered. Right before I sleep, I also do my daily prayer (I’m a Christian gal), where I give thanks to God for all the awesome things happened today and pray for those in need. Sadly it has mostly been praying for the world to heal from Covid-19 the past several weeks.

12:30 AM – Sleep time goodnight

I end the day by calling my boyfriend to say goodnight, and then bed time!

I’d love to know how your weekday routine is. If you have any good suggestions, please share in the comments below as well!

  1. This was such a relaxing post to read! 😊 I personally have very different hours haha, I wake up around 6 or 7 am, I like to start the day working out, even if I’m usually not in the mood for it! Then I take a shower, have breakfast, I sometimes read while finishing to drink my cup of tea, then My working hours start around 9 am and finish around 4 or 5 pm! After that, I’m pretty much free! I usually blog, read, watch a movie, catch up on work for school and at 10 pm, it’s bedtime πŸ˜‚

    1. Glad you enjoyed the post! Your routine is actually my dream routine!! When quarantine first started, I wanted to wake up early and do exercises in the morning, because it can help wake my body up. But as days go, I think school and work stress messed up my sleep quality, and now I barely even wake up by 9:30am πŸ˜‚

  2. Oh you have your routine nicely cut out! Yes having an early morning shower is stimulating and energetic as it stimulates the blood flow. I belong to the early to bed and early to rise types πŸ™‚
    Cheers!

  3. keep bringing us these inspirations Kae. well done on this post. My routine is a mixture of so many things currently that are adhoc so i will really have to sit down and write all the things that happen. challenge is that each day is so dynamic. but i really am enjoying what the Lord is doing during this time and teaching me so much and providing in miraculous ways. i’m amazed at His goodness.

    1. You’re so kind! Thank you πŸ’• Ohh I see that’s interesting. I guess the good side is that each day is so different, it won’t be mundane!

That’s awesome! God is good πŸ™Œ I feel the same way. Even though the world is a bit of a mess right now, I can see glimpses of goodness Lord is doing in our day-to-day. It’s challenging me to notice the subtleness of God’s grace, rather than just focusing on the big miracles. Thanks for sharing this Sophia πŸ’›
