100 Followers (& Fun Facts About This Blog)

Yassss πŸ™Œ We hit our first milestone!!!

Hello City Girl started about a month ago, and I’m super humbled that we now have 100 cute and amazing followers enjoying this blog. It has only been a few weeks but I’ve met quite a lot of awesome people already. I feel honoured that you guys would want to read my stuff and I appreciate all of you for supporting so so soooo muchπŸ’›

As a thank you, I want to open up my comment section in this post for you, to tell us a bit about your blog and share a link to it! Would love to create opportunities to support each other and chances are, if you enjoy this blog, others may enjoy yours too.

Also as a second thank you, here are a few fun facts about Hello City Girl!

1. Starting this blog was completely spontaneous

Everything happened really fast. I’ve never thought of starting a blog, so how it happened was very random. I woke up one day, had a great morning, and felt motivated to share some tips on my morning routine (which has become my first post). I took 10 minutes to think of a name, then I just got a domain and opened a WordPress account!

2. No lockdown, probably no blog

Having to stay home has given me a lot of time back. I don’t think I would’ve spent time starting a new baby if quarantine didn’t happen.

3. No Instagram detox, also probably no blog

For those of you who have read my Instagram detox post, you know I have deleted IG for 30 days back in April. That was a turning point for my quarantine because it made me 10x more productive and gave me a new perspective on how I should spend the rest of the lockdown. Without this realization, I don’t think I would’ve had the open mind to give this idea a shot.

4. I have a lot to share but never got a chance to

From daily routines to travel experiences, I want to share everything. I want to let people know what has worked for me, and also learn what has worked for others. So we can help each other get our sh*t together cause adult life is hard y’all. But these topics don’t come up a lot in day-to-day conversations, so…a blog works out!

5. I never thought I enjoy writing

I used to think I hate writing. Then I realize what I don’t enjoy, are professional and creative writing specifically. Having to write everything so formal and proper is what bores me. Sometimes it even stresses me out. That’s one reason why I never thought of having a blog.

But since HelloCityGirl is a casual space to meet and share, I’m just writing as though I’m chatting with my friends. It’s chill and is how I normally talk. Now I find writing blog posts therapeutic because it’s a safe space to share whatever I feel and talk however I want. It’s basically an open journal for everyone to read hahah.

6. I didn’t know what to expect

I am extremely unfamiliar with WordPress. I have rarely touched it before, neither have my friends (I notice a lot of people use Weebly). I have no idea how the community works, so I don’t even know if people will see my posts. I’m still learning the ins and outs of WordPress, and if you have any tips or tricks, please do share with me in the comments below, thank you!!

  2. Hey Kae, we need more real bloggers like yourself who write as they speak in person. Enough of business language that doesn’t seem to get through my brain, hehe. It’s amaaazing you already have a century followers, best of luck babe πŸ™‚
